Advanced Studio Art

Advanced Studio is designed to assist students in developing a personal voice through their artwork. Class projects and independent gallery and museum research is assigned to expose students to a wide variety of artists and art movements. Students are encouraged to generate and develop ideas and concepts resulting in the creation of original works of art. Artistic growth is aided by acquiring and refining techniques with a wide variety of media.

Groundwork for the AP Sustained Investigation is culled through a curatorial project in the fourth quarter. This project will assist in generating ideas, reference artists and processes for future artworks. Advanced Studio Art students are encouraged to apply to the Scholastic Art Awards and continue their studies in AP Art senior year.

This course is open to juniors and seniors who have fulfilled the prerequisite of Studio Art and Drawing and Painting.
